These are extremely dangerous for any pet! Never use them! Here's why;
- They do not provide enough ventilation. - With the little ventilation holes provided, they can get their toes and tails caught and they will break or get cut. - Rodents do not have good vision, so their other senses(touch, smell and hearing) are vital means of exploring their surroundings. While in a ball, they do not have access to those. - They cannot control where the ball goes or what they bump into, causing injury. They can not see where they are going! - Can cause infections from urine and feces build up. - They are extremely scary and stressful. They have no sense of where they are going and are trapped in a tiny space, and as a prey animal this is bad news to them. - Even the largest one is too small! Rats need to have their tails straight out behind them. If they are forced to curl their tail up this will lead to spinal injuries. |
These are extremely dangerous for any pet! Never use them! Here's why;
- The first ingredients in both of these products is "pine wood shavings". The second is starch, then "alfalfa straw liquid mix". And there are many more, but i'm not going to list them all. No animal should be consuming these ingredients! - They cause intestinal blockages because the ingredients cannot be digested. These require surgery to fix. Surgery is extremely hard on small animals bodies and not many will make it though. - They are known for killing so many small pets of all species! |
Baking soda is deadly to animals who cannot throw up or burp(Rodents can't!)! When ingested, it will mix with the stomach acids and produce gas. They have no way to expel the gasses leading to internal blockage and rupture of the stomach. This is an extremely painful way to die. Be sure to avoid all bedding's/litter that include baking soda!

Never feed your rats wild bugs! They can make your rats sick if they are carrying anything or have been sprayed with pesticides. Only feed captive bred bugs!

Baths are dangerous and unnecessary! Rodents are very clean animals, They groom themselves more than cats groom themselves! Yes they will pee on each other and sometimes poop on each other. or sleep in the raspberry you gave them and dye their hair pink. But that's okay! These are things you need to get used to and accept as a rat owner! If absolutely necessary u can wipe them down with a damp cloth(no soap) or an unscented baby wipe.
Never Force your rat into water! This can cause so many issues. 1) You can get scratched or bitten. 2) Your rat can hurt itself trying to get away. 3) Your rat can in-hail water. 4) It strips their skin of the oils needed to have healthy skin. 5) It will dry out their skin making them itchy and uncomfortable. This can lead to open wounds from itching so much and then lead to infections. 6) It will traumatize your rat and make them scared of you/see you as a threat. These are prey animals! 7) It will NOT cure parasites! You need to get proper treatment from the vet! |
